Health Information Systems Development Unit
Expertise at the School of Population Health
Introduction
HISDU can provide
high-level expertise in the area of health information systems development in
developing country and developed country settings. This unit has the capacity
to take and develop a project from the initial concept through to its research
outputs (for example, program evaluation), and can provide the environment in
which research objectives have tangible and valid outcomes.
Objectives of the Health Information Systems Development Unit
The aim of the Health Information Systems Development Unit is to develop
benchmark standards in research methodology which include as a given,
associated high-quality health information systems.
The emphasis in the Health Information Systems Development Unit is to promote
quality health information systems as an essential adjunct to research, allied
to health improvement and institutional strengthening objectives in the same
way as other health-related disciplines. With improvement in these systems, we
anticipate providing systems in which desired research outcomes are accurately
measured using data that is both validated and valid with bona fide evidence to
demonstrate both.
